accommodation

Of course, accom- modation has dual meanings in psych- ology. It's amazing this hard piece can actually change shape! Now Focus! Focus!

accommodation-the process by which the eye's lens changes shape to focus the image of near objects on the retina.

accommodation

Children often have to adapt their current under- standing of animals when new infor- mation is presented. Birds fly...well, except when the bird is a penguin, then it swims. I often wonder how a child would accomadate the catdog cartoon character.

accommodation-adapting one's current understandings (schemas) to incorporate new information.

absolute threshold

What does absolute threshold have to do with smelling armpits? Well, when I think of a.t. I think of the examples that ask how many drops of perfume are necessary in order to perceive the odor of the perfume (or cologne? Smelling armpits is one way to test the perfume...which odor is stonger? The body's odor or the perfume made to mask the body's odor. How about those people who obviously have a high absolute threshold because they need lots of perfume (or maybe their body odor is just worse). Maybe it has something to do with sensory adaptation. But that would mean another picture because that is another psych vocab word.

absolute threshold-the minimum stimulation needed to detect a particular stimulus 50 percent of the time.
